COLUMBUS is now screening at the AFS Cinema (6406 N I-35 Suite 3100)! Don’t miss your chance to see the critically acclaimed feature debut by Korean American filmmaker Kogonada, starring John Cho.
Set in the eponymous Indiana town—famous for its wealth of modern architecture, including designs by Eero Saarinen, César Pelli, and I. M. Pei—COLUMBUS centers on Jin (Cho), a South Korea-based translator who arrives in town when his estranged father falls into a coma, and Casey (Haley Lu Richardson), who dreams of leaving Columbus to pursue a career as an architect. Their relationship develops as they explore the local architectural landmarks, confronting the decisions they’ve made and the possibilities still open. Kogonada’s perceptive eye “brings a deeply idiosyncratic stylistic and dramatic sensibility to a story that’s not just a character piece, but also a finely nuanced study of people, space and consciousness” (Screen International).
