THE TIGER HUNTER, an official selection of the 2016 Austin Film Festival, is back in town! Lena Khan’s hilarious debut feature stars Danny Pudi (COMMUNITY) as Sami Malik, a young Indian man who hopes to live up to the example of his late father—the esteemed tiger hunter of the title—by making his fortune in the U.S. But Sami gets stuck with a temporary position in a dreary basement office, while the spacious home of his dreams turns out to be a tiny apartment shared with a half-dozen fellow immigrants. With the help of his roommates and his unconventional coworker Alex (Jon Heder), Sami hatches an elaborate scheme to impress his childhood sweetheart Ruby (Karen David) and bring his American dream a little closer to reality. The opening film at this year’s Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival, THE TIGER HUNTER is “warmhearted period tribute to a generation of South Asian immigrants” that “consistently resonates with genuine affection and abundant authenticity” (The Hollywood Reporter).
