DAYS OF WAITING: THE LIFE & ART OF ESTELLE ISHIGO (28 min) directed by Steven Okazaki

This winner of the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject and a Peabody Award is a poignant documentary about an extraordinary woman, artist Estelle Ishigo, one of the few Caucasians to be interned with 110,000 Japanese Americans in 1942.

HISTORY & MEMORY: FOR AKIKO AND TAKASHIGE (32 min) directed by Rea Tajiri

Groundbreaking and haunting, this film is a poetic composition of recorded history and non-recorded memory as filmmaker Rea Tajiri tries to uncover the experience of her Japanese American family during and after WWII. History & Memory premiered at the Whitney Biennial exhibition, where it won the Distinguished Achievement Award and went on to screen at over 250 festivals and exhibitions internationally.
